WOW: Wild, Once-in-a-lifetime, World Adventure 2023-2024
We made it! We (including Bodhi) said one three-letter word more than any other, and it’s also a perfect acronym to best describe our experience…
“WOW”: Wild adventure, Once-in-a-lifetime, World tour.

Three months 🗓️
Six countries 🇯🇵🇹🇭🇬🇷🇮🇹🇮🇸🇺🇸
9 flights, 49 hours, 20,000 miles ✈️
One family dream come true 🧑🧑🧒
We're so grateful for such an epic adventure. It was made possible by the blessings and prayers from our village of family and friends and monetary gifts that funded our 5+ year old saved up “honeymoon fund”.
The sweet start of our trip marked the bitter end of living in Hawaii for now, as we packed all our things and moved out (yes, if you missed this big news, now you know!). Tears were shed through exhausted eyes (crazy move out and departure stories) as the islands—home for the last 14 years for Bronson, 7 for Katie, and Bodhi’s birthplace—disappeared under the clouds through the plane’s window.
Without hesitation, we can say this was one of the most challenging things we’ve done (hence: “WILD adventure). It was stressful, exhausting, and totally worth it. Even though Bodhi is such a chill, happy, friendly, and flexible toddler, “our little prince” IS a 1.5 year old toddler (IYKYK!) and we're first-time parents… traveling the world…
We all got COVID (for the first time) two weeks into the trip while in Kyoto. Changing time zones led to consistently altered sleep schedules and poor sleep. Katie dealt with postpartum anxiety exacerbated by constantly unfamiliar environments and ever-changing situations. The constant stress and chronic exhaustion accumulated. We needed to dig deep in communicating as partners across opposing views and approaches.
We almost cut the trip short, but thankfully we didn’t. Because in the end we delighted in exploring the grand, beautiful, diverse outside world together, and received an even more precious gift: discovering the richness of growing virtues inside of us—as individuals, spouses, parents, and a family.
We're so proud of little Bodhi for earning his big “world traveler” badge. Even more, we're excited that his young sponge-like mind and loving heart has now been impressed for life by a colossal explosion of sights, sounds, tastes, people, and places from around the globe.
Jane, Sawasdee, Filakia, Ciao, Aloha!
